If there's was a visual description of "shabby chic" I'm pretty sure the property I just photographed for Beautiful Places is it. It's all in the details. Reclaimed barn wood used both on the exterior and interior of the home made for a real rustic cottage feel. Heritage blue wainscoting matched with cream walls and a warm hardwood floor added to this modern romantic home. Not one detail was missed in this home which sported copper and antique glass door knobs, vintage style lighting, and a separate indoor/ outdoor dining room. A collection of ceramic liquor bottles, blue on white coffee mugs, antiqued song bird floor lamp, and little ornaments all added to the shabby chic charm of this home. I never knew I was so fond of "shabby chic." I love it! It's so romantic and so comfortable.
On a separate note, I have to thank Mrs. Lorna Taylor of Beautiful Places. She rocks! Lorna comes with me on a majority of the houses I photograph to stage the houses and properties. She does an amazing job creating beautiful bouquets for the home, fabricating extraordinary dinning room set ups, and making sure everything is prim and proper for shooting. She's so creative, and mostly works with what the home is stocked with, but also brings a good assortment of goodies. Need coffee? Not a problem, soy sauce and water does the trick. She knows about perspective and how the camera sees a scene. I'm grateful that she comes along with me and appreciate all the work she does to help me out.
This totally awesome romantic vintage style home is at the center of a beautiful piece of property. Surrounded by vineyards, persimmon trees and embellished by it's own lake with it's own dock and boat house this property is a haven. It even has an antique windmill towering over the house, and a outdoor gas fire pit overlooking Sonoma valley. Perfect for families or romantic getaways, this property was such an inspiration to photograph.
